In my life this week…I am a Grandma again! Our second daughter gave birth to her first born, a beautiful baby boy, and I am beyond thrilled. We still need to do a photo shoot with all his aunts and uncles. Their smiles were beaming from ear to ear when little Reuben James made his first appearance at church Wednesday night.
In our homeschool this week…we have been tackling the mundane basics, but that has been very nice. We are hitting the basics like math and language arts and fitting in some of the extras each day. Decisions have been made for the Living History Museum event we will participate in at the beginning of March with our local homeschool group. My children will be portraying John Dalton (father of atomic science or some such thing), Lewis & Clark & Sacajawea and Anne Frank. They will be researching and learning all they can about the person they will be representing. On Museum night they will dress the part and present a display of some kind in which the ‘visitors’ can learn and interract with history.
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…Do the next thing. Don’t borrow trouble by looking to far down the road, fretting about how you’ll handle the high school years if your child is just starting out. You’ll be able to deal with that when the time comes.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…it has still been cc-c-c-co-o-ol-ll-llddd-d-d-d here and so we have not been on the go much. We have been to see baby Reuben a time or two, of course. And though the children have stayed close to home, Mom was able to get out for lunch with our oldest daughter one day and spent another day with 2 dear friends and had fabulous time!
My favorite thing this week was…making some headway in decluttering our household. I have a vehicle-load of stuff to take to the thrift store, we’ve tossed broken and worn out toys and clothes, we’ve done some school room organization as well as the boys’ closet. Feels good!
My kiddos favorite thing this week was…playing Killer Bunnies (Christmas present from biggest brother & sis-in-law – they never get tired of playing) and building gameboards from legos (watch for an upcoming post telling you all about it!)
Things I’m working on…learning to be a work-at-home Mom. Not only am I working at building this blog, but I am now an Independent Consultant with Lilla Rose. I’m loving it! My girls are my assistants, so it really is a family business. I closed my very first party successfully this week and have 3 more on the books in the next several weeks. But, I must learn to budget my time better and focus more clearly on the task at hand. I have never been all that great at multi-tasking and this Mama is needing to learn some new tricks.
I’m cooking…whatever we have on hand. It’s the end of a five week month and we are working on cleaning out the pantry and freezers before we stock up again next week. Tonight, hamburger stroganoff, because I have burger in the freezer and noodles in the pantry.
On the blog this week…I guest posted on Mom2Mom Mondays, sharing with you all the things I wanted my daughter to know as she prepared for birth. My Snow Ice Cream recipe was shared at several places around the web. I announced the re-release of 4 beautiful Flexi Clips at Lilla Rose and I showed a creative solutions to getting your kids to clean out some of the clutter from their bedrooms.
I’m grateful for…my supportive husband who cheers me on in my crazy notions and dreams. And my children who stretch the truth saying things like “You aren’t old, Mom!” and “You look so pretty and so young.” and “You are the best cook ever!” Also grateful for the chance to see my children grow up to have children of their own and do an even better job at the parenting thing than I ever did.
I’m praying for…a friend who recently lost her husband, and a friend who’s marriage has ended, and my children’s marriages, and future spouses of my children not yet married.
All in all, it’s been a very good week. How was yours? What are you looking forward to next week?
Sharing this post at some of these wonderful places.

Congratulations on the new grandson. I don’t blame you for sticking close to home, we are doing the same here. I’m sure it was nice for you to get away from Homeschool for a bit and be with your oldest and with friends.
Thanks for linking up This Week.
Thank you, Renee! We are going to have a major case of cabin fever by the time winter is over here. Thanks for hosting the linkup and for taking time to stop in for a visit.
Linda, you’ve had a full week, full of blessing and productivity. I’d say that was a good week! Again, congratulations on your sweet new grandbaby! I know you’re all so excited. I’d like to have seen the aunt-and-uncle-smiles. 🙂
(To answer your question about the link-up…the photos you share do not have to be pictures that you have already posted on your blog. It will simply be a place to corral some photos from the past month. There are many times that the photos I use in my collages have not yet been on my blog, and yet they are representative of the “moments” of my month.)
Hi Chery 🙂 Life is good, God is good, His blessings are abundant!
I’ve marked my calendar and will be joining you for Gathering the Moments next week 🙂 I think it is a marvelous idea!
Oh, I am glad that you’re joining, Linda! I have loved winding up a month with a look back. It seems I can sometimes see things more clearly. I hope that you will find it a joy as well!
Welcome to Lilla Rose! 🙂 And congrats on the new sweet grandbaby! Lots of excitement in your world.
Thank you Schecki! The Lilla Rose team has been fabulous. I love the product and the company is really terrific. Thank you for stopping in today and leaving you sweet comment.
Congratulations! Adorable baby!! I looks like you had a great week.
Thank you, Phyllis 🙂 I pray you have a wonderful week ahead. Blessings!
Congratulations on the birth of your grandson! Babies are so precious! (I guess that’s why I had 11!) Our week went by in such a blur- there was a lot of cabin fever because of the snow and below 0 temperatures, which leads me in to what I’m looking forward to this week- being another week closer to spring!
Hi Shelly! We are counting the days to Spring too. 11 babies? How blessed you are! Watching our 6th grandchild enter this world brought back all the wonderful memories of my own 8 babies. Thanks for visiting today.
Congratulations on the grandson. How precious. It sounds like a busy week. My kids love snow ice cream but we have not had enough snow to make it.
Thank you, Beth 🙂 The snow ice cream (as well as a new nephew) was the highlight of my 7 year old’s winter. But I will happily leave snow and cold behind and welcome Spring anytime now! I’m glad you came by for a visit. Have a wonderful week!
Tell Caitlin congrats and that I’ve been thinking of her often! Our baby Hart #6 should arrive sometime this month. I’m ever grateful that your love of children rubbed off on me.
Thank you, Nikki 🙂 #6 – how exciting! Your first midwife is the one that delivered my grandson 😉 we reminisced just a bit while waiting his arrival. She sends her blessings to you and yours! You are the sweetest Mama ever, and I know your children and your husband rise and call you Blessed. Your friendship is special to me. Can hardly wait for your baby announcement!
