The midwife stopped in for a visit recently. It would be the last visit before the baby arrived. There were questions I wanted to ask . . . Is baby in good position? What can we do in preparation for delivery? What is baby’s heart rate?
I’ve birthed eight babies, but this birth was different. This time it was my baby girl preparing to birth her first baby! This mothering gig is beautiful and wonderful and hard and rewarding. And when you stand on the sidelines watching as your own daughter joins the motherhood club it is nothing short of AMAZING!
Won’t you join me today at My Joy Filled Life where I am guest posting, sharing about what I want my daughter to know as she prepares for birth. Sarah hosts Mom2Mom Mondays every week andΒ Click HERE to read all of my article, I hope you will be blessed.
And Now! I announce to you . . .
Our Newest Grand-Blessing! Our daughter and her husband blessed us last week with a new grandson. Reuben James was born at home, with 2 midwives and Grandma Linda attending. What a joy! Baby and Mama and Daddy are all doing well. Grandma an Grandpa are quite pleased to welcome grandbaby #6.

I will never forget the look on my daughter’s face moments after she gave birth to my granddaughter — it will be with me forever! I was definitely more nervous for her than I was for myself. What a beautiful picture — Congrats! Just stopping by from the GRAND Social. Hope you get a chance to do the same!
Linda says
Thank you Kc. It is such a joy and an amazing experience, isn’t it? So glad you stopped by, thank you taking time to celebrate with me! I’ll be stopping over to the GRAND Social to visit in just a bit!

We deliberately didn’t tell our parents when my wife was in labour. Neither of them are quite on board with our “crunchy” life style. Midwives, home-births, cloth diapering…they just aren’t ready for that sort of stuff. We were worried that if we told them we planned to have our 4th at home that they would never leave us alone and just keep sending over horror stories of home births that went wrong.
So, we called them the next morning and said “congratulations, your a grandma again”. When they asked what hospital we were in, we just told them to come to our house. Their first question (both of them) was “They let you go home already?!” That’s when we told them.
Congratulations!
Linda says
Thank you for the congratulations! We did the same thing with our first home birth, knowing that most of our family and friends would be quite nervous and not entirely supportive. And now 2 of our daughters have had home births and it is becoming an expected thing! I don’t consider myself entirely ‘crunchy’ but I do live with a taste of it. Have a great day!

Hi Linda. Warm congratulations on another addition to your family and one more to come soon. What a blessing it must be to have 6 grandchildren! We became grandparents for the first time last November and the immediate rush of love we both had for this precious little soul quite overwhelmed us. Hearts enlarge to make room for more. Hope all goes well with the next delivery! Blessings π
