I have met some amazing women since entering the blogging world, and many have become good friends. One such lady is Emmalee at The Hoggatt Homeschool. Her life is full as she juggles being a wife and homeschooling mom as well as running several small home businesses – she runs circles around me! I don’t know how she accomplishes so much in one day. Emmalee sent me 4 questions to answer and asked that I share them with my readers as part of a blog tour and a way of everyone getting to know one another better.
- What are you working on? I am promoting the fabulous The Ultimate Homemaking Bundle this week. If you have considered purchasing I say ‘go for it!’ It’s only available through Monday and includes dozens of resources, many I’ve read myself. Great stuff! Next week I’m celebrating my First Blogiversary!!!! This site is now one year old and I’ll be partying all week long giving away some of my favorite things.
- How does your work differ from others of its blogging genre? I am an older mom blogger learning new tricks. That makes my voice and perspective in the blogging world a little different than most. Our oldest child was born almost 3 decades ago yet we still have children at elementary ages and we have 6 grandchildren already too. My days are full and varied, I still don’t have it all together and I can relate in some form or fashion to every mom out there!
- Why do you write what you do? I want to encourage women who are coming up behind me in this motherhood journey that they can do this, their struggles are not unique, that created them to be who they are and will provide the strength and tools to do what they need to do. I enjoy writing, I enjoy the creative process, I get a thrill when something I’ve shared makes a difference in the lives of others. It’s fun!
- How does your writing process work? I jot down posting ideas everywhere – napkins, shopping receipts, church bulletins, my little dayplanner I carry everywhere. The children’s antics or unexpected distractions or even mundane tasks can inspire me. I enter those bits of ideas into my editorial calendar and then schedule in time to finish them out. I grab a few quiet moments early before everyone wakes, but I do the bulk of my writing after the children are in bed and 1 or 2 days a month when my sweet husbands lets me take off for the day. My goal is to have a publishing schedule in place soon where I’ll be posting on a different topic each day of the week. My oldest daughter will be coming to teach our homeschool lessons one day a week to free me up for writing. I am not very disciplined but I am very blessed!
Now for the Hearts for Home Blog Hop!
Last week at the Hearts for Home Blog Hop we had a treasure trove of ideas – nearly 70 posts were linked up! The most popular post was Koko’s Workboxes at Monsters Ed Homeschool Academy. Perfect timing since I’m thinking about integrating some workbox type ideas into our homeschooling next school year.

I was happy to join in the fun, Emmalee! It was a good exercise, thinking about the why and how of blog writing.
