We are talking about family traditions this month. Traditionally, I take time in December to look ahead at the upcoming year. Being prepared for events ahead of time helps me have our important traditions in place. As I sit down to switch over my 2013 Day Planner to 2014 I fill in important information like birthdays and anniversaries, school events, family reunions, vacation dates, etc.
I am still a pen-and-paper kind of gal when is comes to scheduling and planning, but finding a Day Planner that works for me has not been easy. I have tried many but have never found one that suited my needs or personality very well. They were great systems! They just didn’t fit me or my budget very well. Until now.
Earlier this year Sue from Homemaker’s Friend sent me her Daily Planner to try. I’ve been using it ever since and I have to say I love it! Just take a look:
- It’s beautiful! there are beautiful photos and inspirational verses that put a smile on face and improve my heart and mindset
- It’s just the right size. it slips into my handbag or tucks in tote bag without being heavy and bulky
- Calendars – monthly and weekly and yearly calendars for easy planning
- My favorite features: place for daily menus – I like to have my week’s meals listed out in front of me for easy reference. And the perforated list forms – perfect for jotting down a shopping list, ready for tearing out to take with you (or send with your errand boy/girl). Tabs for each section make it super easy to flip and find just what I’m looking for.
- Contacts – a place for important names and numbers, mailing lists, etc.
- Notes – this came in handy when I had brilliant ideas pop in my head when out and about. I jotted them down and they’ll soon be published as blog posts. I also used this section for prayer requests and other important things to remember.
- Spiral Binding – lays flat, folds back on itself, pages don’t easily tear away.
- 2 extra months – December of the previous year and January of the next year – woo hoo!! It’ll be so much easier to transition to the new year.
The Daily Planner suits my needs perfectly, and I enjoy using it. The 2014 edition is absolutely gorgeous, with lovely colors and beautiful flowers and all the amazing features I’ve already shared. You just might like one yourself! Let’s see if we can make that happen!

Thanks for sharing this ~ I’ve avoided using a planner in recent years out of frustration of not finding one that really worked!
Hoping for a more organize year. This would get me started off on a good path.
I have used Day Planners in the past but have gotten away from it in the past few years. I would like to start using one again this coming year. I think I was more organized and goal-oriented when I used them before and I am looking forward to those benefits in using one again! 🙂
PS I tried to visit “Homemaker’s Friend” but that link seems to be down. :{
sorry wendy – I’ll check on that right away. thanks for letting me know.
should be fixed now!
I love day planners. But unfortunately haven’t found one ‘perfect’ for my needs.
Got away from using a planner, but need to again as it keeps me on task.
I do not use one but it would come in handy because I homeschool 3 boys.
In years past I used a daily planner and loved how organized I stayed but then I started using the online calender that synced to my phone. Recently I decided to go back to a planner because I’ve missed some of the wonderful benefits that you just don’t get with the online version. This planner sounds like one worth trying.
I use notebooks, post it, scrap paper….but I could sure go with something like this!
I’m still trying to find one that works for homeschooling and just daily life.
I use a monthly planner (I call it “my brain”) But I should probably use a daily one.
I do think I might stay more organized with a lovely planner like this one. I randomly use the calendar on my iPod/phone, but mostly things are just in my head. And get lost there. 🙂
I haven’t been but I think it would be a great help with keeping myself and my family on track.
I don’t use a day planner, but my days really need the organization.
I have tried so many planners it isn’t funny, I use a different color for each person I need to keep track of for appointments or other things. I’m still trying to find the PERFECT PLANNER, this looks like it could really be the one.
I have never used a planner before, and I’d love to try one.
I’d love the To-do list.
I’ve never been very good at using a planner, but I think it would be useful if I would start!
I love love love daily planners. It is fun to go back and read the ones from years ago. I brings back so many memories.
I like the 2 page month view…helps me see everything at a glance and get a better idea of planning:)

Yes I use a daily planner. Tip is to get into habit of writing everything down and looking at it the night before for the next day.

Right now I use a Well-Planned Day Planner… But, I’d like to move away from the “homeschool” planner to a “mom planner.”
I’ve been searching for a planner that works best for me without being to expensive and having LOTS of different options that I’m not going to use. I love having my week laid out in front of me at a glance, and have found that having a weekly ‘goals’ or ‘task’ list to be extremely helpful; I put it on the same page as my daily lists that way I can incorporate those things into each day.
I need to use a planner because I have had so many contradicting events lately. thank you
I mostly use google calendar, but I need something on paper for meal planning and other homemaker things!
I don’t use a planner. I think something small like this that I can keep on me would really help when making appointments and such.
no i think it would help with time management!
I use to use planners all the time… i gotta get a new one!
I’d be lost without my daily planner. I use one every day to organize my “to do” list and check off my progress. It’s a great way to plan ahead and make sure you don’t double book dates!
I used to use a planner and I have no idea why I stopped. Now I have two kids and even more appointments! I am forever double booking events and missing others. This planner could go a long way with me. Thanks for the opportunity!
i don’t use a daily planner but i need to. I constantly miss appointments and other things! I need to start organizing my days!!
Untitled pages for you to customize for your own duties and ideas would be the most helpful section in the planner for me! add those appointments in that section!!
I do not use one but feel that this would relieve some of my stress if I start to use one. I love the menu planner that would be so helpful
I think a planner could really help with my homeschool and chores throughout the day.
I don’t use one, but with so many things to do, using one would surely help me take on goals one at a time.
no but i feel like it would help me organize myself better for upcoming year
I got out of the habit of using one but I need to again because it does help me stay organized and to not forget things.
I write each family members schedule in a different color ink.
I don’t but really need one to,schedule meal plans.
menu planning section would be be favorite part if this planner
I don’t use one but I would love to keep my days straight
I dont not currently use a day planner! I would love to start! I think it would hepl be organized!
I currently don’t use a daily planner but it maybe helpful since I have four girls.
I have a larger paper size planner and love it for the larger boxes. Some days I have several things to be at.
I haven’t found one for 2014 yet!
