These past several weeks I have been watching WORLD Watch news videos videos while I drink my morning coffee. For many years the morning news was a part of my daily routine, but there came a time when it became difficult to watch mainstream newscasts. I could not trust the information given and much of it was not appropriate for my children to see or hear. I gave up my morning ritual for a time but now I can enjoy it once again!
“Whatever the news, the purpose of the Lord will stand.” This is how Brian Basham begins his newscast each weekday morning. Also known as “The Big Bash,” the news anchor has over 15 years experience in the news media arena. He is professional, personable and entertaining all at the same time. We have found this quite refreshing!
Monday through Friday, I receive an email with a link to the day’s news reel. That makes it easy for me to click over and watch the 10 minute newscast on my laptop as I prepare for my day. Typically, the video begins with current news headlines, followed by human interest stories and education/entertainment features.I enjoy the variety of stories and news reports. Sometimes the headlines deal with heavy topics – war, refugees, crime. These topics are presented in a sensitive, respectful and objective manner. The reports are kept short and give the information directly, making it possible for me to process without getting overwhelmed. I have found the WORLD Watch newscasts to be appropriate for my teenagers.
For this review, my family received a 6 month subscription to WORLD Watch. I already mentioned I check in each morning through my email. We can also watch as a family by connecting my laptop to our television with an HDMI cable. Of course, you can view on any device that has internet and streaming capabilities.
What if you miss a broadcast? No worries! Each day’s news is available on the website. You may want to catch up on the week’s news over the weekend – you can click on each of the videos from the previous week. Or you may want to use the search feature to watch stories on a topic or event. All the feature stories as well as the news headlines are archived so you can watch and rewatch whenever you like.
I have been impressed and pleased with the quality and content from this news source. This is a production that presents news from a Christian worldview, but I find it to be factual and presented in an objective way, allowing the viewer to process and draw their own conclusions.
Recently we have learned about the history of our Labor Day holiday, watched updates about the on-going happenings in Afghanistan, been introduced to unusual wildlife, and seen the devastion of hurricanes and wildfires.
A subscription to WORLD Watch costs $79.99 per year or $9.99 per month. There is a free 30-day trial available which gives you time to give it a try before you commit to a membership. We have been so pleased we plan to extend our subscription and continue using WORLD Watch as one of our news information sources!
