Dear Homeschool Mom,
I know those voices you hear – “Can I do this?” “Am I really qualified to teach your children?” “Am I enough?”
I’m here to say “Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes, you can! Yes, you are!”
That voice of doubt, the nay-sayers in our lives can get the best of us if we let them. The fact is, God made you your children’s mom. He thought you were just the right one to raise them and so there must be a way to do what you have to do.
I’ve watched moms over the years. We have a reputation of doing what needs to be done. When it comes to our kids, we do what we have to do. That includes teaching them at home.
You may not be perfect but you are enough. You may not have all the answers but you are enough. You may have a long list of flaws, but you are enough.
Sit down and make a list of things you need and want to accomplish in your children’s education. Then start brainstorming and list out all the ways you might be able to make them happen. What resources will you need? Who do you know? What do you have available? Don’t overthing, just list out anything that comes to mind. It’s amazing what we can do with a little creative thinking and some help from others.
Reach out to someone who’s ‘been there done that’ and pick their brain. I guarantee they have felt those feelings of inadequacy but pushed on through. We homeschool moms love to share from our experience. Learn from others – what were their successes? their mistakes?
There will be days, even seasons, when you’ll doubt yourself. Don’t give in. Surround yourself with people who are positive. Phone calls, video chats, text messages or a visit over coffee with a friend who’s supportive will go a long way.
You can do this! Who loves your children more than you? No one! And so I know you’ll give them all you are able – and that is enough. You are enough. You ARE enough.
With love,
