I am rather picky about where I go to find encouragement and advice. As a wife and mother I do sometimes get discouraged or need to seek guidance from others. The first place I go is to scripture. I also seek counsel from my husband and close friends and family I can trust to offer Godly counsel. And then there are the gazillion self-help how-to books. I love books, I collect books, I read books – really, I do!

I am usually reading several at the same time. I’ll have a book on my nightstand, next to my favorite chair, one or two dealing with homeschooling, one about blogging and now an ebook or two on the computer and kindle. These days I’m working on some great reads I received in The Ultimate Homemaking Bundle.
For encouragement in my job as mother I’m reading The Cherished Home. What you’ll find in this books is:
- Over 100 pages of ideas to help you evaluate your life, set priorities, love your family well and make memories
- Wonderful tips for taking care of mom
- Simple ideas for celebrating every day in a special way
- Tips for making holidays special
- Printables
- Recipe cards for simple recipes
- Recipe cards for cleaning and skin care
- Resource list for further reading
You know I’m working on my homemaking skills, and the Homemaker’s Guide to Creating the Perfect Schedule is full of helpful tips and lots of encouragement when setting up a routine for your household. In this book, Amy actually gives me permission to NOT have a strict minute-by-minute schedule – love that!
I take care of the bulk of my meals just before the beginning of each month and these two resources have offered up some fantastics tips and tricks to make my monthly cooking easier and more efficient. I have printed out portions to keep with my recipes and menu planning supplies, but they are just a click away on my computer for easy access too.
I’m also looking at resources that will help us instill good character qualities in our children. Caroline Allen has created these character badges that are fun and rewarding and easy to use. Sometimes a badge of honor or an unexpected reward will bring about the results we are looking for, and she has put everything you need together in this great little package!
I’ve only scratched the surface! This bundle has resources available on marriage and health and holidays and so much more. What’s on your reading list? Have you read any of the books available in our bundle? I’d love to hear – please share in the comment section below.
And don’t forget – The Ultimate Homemaking Bundle is only available through Monday!
