No More Perfect Moms – Chapter 10 – One Perfect God
Do you find yourself disappointed by your high expectations? Do you fear your family, your home, your marriage are not perfect? This is exactly what we’ve been discussing throughout this study of No More Perfect Moms by Jill Savage.
“We must understand that the imperfect parts of our lives are counterbalanced with the reality of a perfect God who longs to shine His light through the cracks in our lives.”
God’s Perfect Love It may be true that we are not perfect, that we tend toward The Perfection Infection, but we can be in perfect relationship with God. God’s love is perfect, it doesn’t change, it is unconditional – all the things we’d like to be but just cannot be. We can use God’s Word to filter our thoughts and to see clearly right and wrong.
God’s Perfect Strength In our weakness, we realize our need for God’s strength. Taking off the old way of thinking and putting on a new attitude requires strength we cannot muster on our own.
God’s Perfect Hope Are you wishing you can be who you want to be, who God wants you to be? Is there any hope of this happening? God’s hope is more than just wishing – it’s looking toward something with expectation, knowing He’s faithful to give what He’s promised.
God’s Perfect Truth Building our lives and our identity on God’s own word gives us the foundation on which to build an authentic and joyful life. We will be able to discern what is not true if we know what truth really is. Are you going through difficult times? Have you been unfairly wronged? Are you at your whit’s end not knowing where to turn? God gives us help and hope in his Word. Read it everyday, no matter what. Find a version you can easily understand. Use websites like BibleGateway.com. Dig into His Word.
God’s Perfect Redemption The author shares stories of redemption from her own life as well as from scripture, like the account of Joseph – a beloved son who was sold into slavery by his brothers and unfairly imprisoned who eventually was reunited with his father and brothers – a man used by God during adversity and prosperity. And the ultimate example of redemption – Jesus, God’s only Son, the perfect sacrifice, dying on the cross so that we might live.
We are left with hope – because we have a God who is perfect – we don’t have to be. Isn’t that amazing? What a gift that is to us!
Throughout this whole series Bridget, Mandy and Misty have shared their hearts and their lives with us in the video conversations. Today is not exception. I just love these girls! I cannot think of a better way to wrap up our study of No More Perfect Moms, listening in as our friends discuss One Perfect God.
What imprefections have you been working through? Which lie is it most difficult for you to stop believing?
