In recent weeks my heart has been pricked and I’m mulling over my role as wife, mother and homemaker. It’s my dream come true, but still, I’m not very good at balancing and managing it all. In our Encouraging Hearts & Home blog hop last week, the most viewed post was A Minute of Life from Amy at Hearth Ridge Reflections. How perfect! Amy is a beautiful writer, and also a friend of mine who’s life challenges and encourages me all at the same time.
Speaking of homemaking, challenge and encouragement, I am also featuring a few posts that did these very things:
- What is Homemaking? from Kayla, The Homesteading Homemaker
- 10 Rules to Live By from Vicki at Five Spot Green Living
- Managing Time on the Fringes from Michele at Living Our Days
And since homemaking is my theme this week, I’m wondering. Is your home a place you love to be? Are you the very best homemaker you can possibly be? If you can use helpful tips and inspirational encouraging for all areas of making your home a haven, you may want to take a look at the 2018 Ultimate Homemaker’s Bundle. This is my favorite bundle offer of the year. Every year. For the past 5 years I’ve found amazing resources that have been helpful, useful, encouraging and strengthening. I would argue there is a difference between being inspired to look at your situation and change it for the better and feeling guilty and overwhelmed by what others are doing and punishing yourself for not doing better. The truth is we can all do better and that is one of the things I do enjoy about blogging and online communities is I do think about new ways to do things that will make life better. You do have to make sure you aren’t bringing yourself down thinking everyone else has it managed and you are the one who is falling behind. That can lead to people doing less not more.
Linda says
I agree that comparing one’s self to others is a dangerous trap. But I know that I learn from others and often find help and motivation when I see how others go about things. I hope the things I share here on my blog are encouraging and even motivating, but I never want others to feel it’s the only way.
I’m glad you stopped by today, and I hope you find encouraging things here at our blog hop!

I often feel like I’m balancing it all well and getting everything done but there are other times when I feel like it is all just falling apart.
Linda says
I hear ya, Joanne π My goal is to find a happy medium between the two!
Shirley Wood says
Hi Linda, I too am living the dream life as a wife to my sweetheart and gift from God. As a full time homemaker and grandmother extraordinaire, not to mention following my own passion of blogging, life can easily become overwhelming and cause us to question ourselves. Bringing every thought into captivity isn’t as easy as it seems but it is necessary. For me, clearing my schedule and getting back to the basics and those things which will always be first priorities is sometimes necessary to get my thoughts back into alignment. Those doubts come in when we expect too much of ourselves. Thank you for hosting the party for us. I don’t get around to parties as much as I wish I could but I always enjoy them.
Linda says
Thank you, Shirley, for these wonderful thoughts. What a blessing to be living the dream life!
I’ve had conversations this weekend on the topic of expectations, and you are exactly right!
I’m so glad you were able to take time this week to join our little party. I always enjoy your posts π
Have a beautiful week!
