It’s that time of year when I love to curl up with a hot cup of coffee and a good book. In keeping with my apron theme this month I went in search of some good reads to share with you. Pick up one of these books about aprons for a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I find myself oohhing and aahhing over patterns and prints, imagining what life was like for the homemaker in days gone by, planning my next creative endeavor. I hope you’ll find my choices inspiring as well! Click on the image of any book below to learn more details about them – these are not affiliate links, just results of my own search and items I have on my own wishlist. Happy Reading!
The Apron Book by EllynAnne Geisel is a beautiful book containing photos and stories and all things ‘apron’ – as the subtitle says “making, wearing, and sharing a bit of cloth and comfort” – I think this says it all. I have not yet purchased this book myself, but it is at the top of my wishlist this Christmas!
Aprons: Icons of the American Home by Joyce Cheney was first published when the art exhibit “Apron Strings: Ties to the Past,” was making a national tour. Oh, how I wish I could have seen this! Where was I when this tour was making its way around the country? I don’t have a clue but I am hoping to visit it by curling up with this book soon.
While perusing books and stories about aprons, I of course am inspired to create new aprons, how about you? The Perfect Apron by Robert Merrett looks very promising, offering 35 apron designs of various styles for the reader.
