Let me tell you about My Boy Gabe. The day he was born, his Daddy and I spent the evening trekking the hiking trail around the park, as well as the hospital grounds, waiting for him to decide he the time was right for his arrival. Once he was ready, 45 minutes later, HELLO! he made his appearance!
He’s like that when it comes to decision making. When he needs to get from Point A to Point D, he is sure to go through points B and C in an orderly and organized manner. This boy of mine, he’s a thinker, a problem solver. “What are your plans when you get older, Gabe?” He quickly answers “I’ll study to be an engineer like my Dad and older brothers.”
This boy with the great big, melt-your-heart brown eyes, this boy who asks for broccoli pizza for his birthday dinner, this boy with the most infectious laugh I’ve ever heard, this boy who is a gift from God, our 6th blessing here on earth – he’s turning 11.
We’ll be having a family dinner and celebration tonight, a picnic and get-together with friends later this week. Will you join me in wishing him a happy birthday? How do you celebrate birthdays at your house?

Hi Deb π I do love my boy (only this boy is my son) This 11 year old boy is Uncle to 5 (so far). Our oldest grandson celebrates his 4th birthday in a couple of days. They love celebrating together. Thanks for popping in and celebrating with us. Have a wonderful week!

Happy Birthday Gabe! We usually celebrate with birthday cake and dinner — both the choice of whoever is having the birthday. However my granddaughter and I have started a new tradition of making a special breakfast for the celebrant, too! You can never have to many birthday celebrations!

Thanks, Kc π I’ll pass the birthday wishes on to Gabe. Our traditions are similar, with birthday cake and dinner. I do like that birthday breakfast tradition, though. I agree, you can never have too many celebrations. He’s had 2 already, and 2 more coming this week – he’ll be birthday’d out!

My son is only 8 years older than my oldest grandson. Happy Birthday Gabe. Sounds like a great celebration.

Hi Betty π It’s been such a blessing to have young children while becoming grandparents. Makes life fun and interesting! Our youngest was 3 when our first grandchild was born. That grandchild dubbed our youngest children ‘The Aunts’ and ‘The Uncles’ as soon as he could talk – so fun to see my little ones as playmates for their nieces and nephews.
Thank you for the birthday wishes – I’ll pass them on!

I truly hope he enjoys all of his birthday celebrations! I think it is so awesome that you have children still at home and have become grandparents! That has GOT to be truly fun. It makes me feel good about how my family has become so blended, with my daughter’s husband getting a baby brother one month before his 4th child was born, the fact that when my daughter married him, he had custody of his 2 children, which meant she immediately became a step mom as we became step grandparents! And how my brother, who is only 4 years younger than me, (I am 48), now has 2 children who are the same ages as a couple of my grandchildren! LIFE IS AWESOME!

It is awesome, Cindi π God’s blessings all around us, generations intermingling, that’s a very good thing. I’m so glad you stopped by today! Have a wonderful week and enjoy that family of yours.
