- In my life this week…I’ve been on the go. A trip to town nearly every day has meant many items on my to-do list have been left undone.
- In our homeschool this week…the children are enjoying the freedom to follow their pet projects as a we take a break from formal schooling. We have budding film-makers working on their script, future engineers building amazing structures and vehicles with legos, and a creative woodworker building a 3-ft long mechanical bank, potential veterinarians learning all about kitty care .
- Helpful homeschooling tip of the week…step back and take time to breathe, and then evaluate. Don’t feel pressure to make quick decisions about curriculum or direction for your homeschool. Choose one student, or one aspect, or one subject and list out your needs and options, pray and consider before you make final decisions.
- Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…we look forward to seeing friends from our local homeschool group at our newly organized Lego Club and park days. The Aunts and The Uncles (our 4 youngest) will be enjoying time with their niece and nephews.
- My favorite thing this week was…watching my boys step out of their comfort zone as they presented their lego creations to others they did not know well. It is exciting to watch them grow and mature.
- My kiddos favorite thing this week was…Lego Club, definitely for the boys. Esther would say script editing, and Bekah’s highlight would be tagging along with Mom and Noah for big shopping day.
- Things I’m working on…In regards to schooling, I am in evaluation mode, looking at curriculum choices and setting goals for each of the kids for our upcoming school year. In blog-world, I am working on a blogging schedule and getting some posts in draft.
- I’m cooking…lots. Today is my Monthly Big Cooking Day. I’m cooking up burger and casseroles and sauces for the freezer.
- I’m grateful for…our low-key, unschooling mode during this busy week as we transition from one school year to the next.
- I’m praying for…relief from this pattern of rain, for the victims of recent Midwest tornadoes and storms, for direction for our family and our homeschool.
- A photo for you…

I loved reading your note on “In Our Homeschool This Week.” Your children sound so creative! They may enjoy Tinker Toys – have you heard of them? We bought them as a Christmas gift one year for Alyssa. She loves building microphones so that she can perform for us. I definitely need to look into freezer cooking after the move. Do you have any great resources you can recommend preferably free. I just linked up http://totplay.blogspot.com/2013/06/random-five-on-friday-may-31st.html. Stop by and visit if you get a chance.
I’m glad you stopped by, Tracey 🙂 Yes, we know Tinker Toys. A classic for sure. I’m working up a series on my monthly menu planning and freezer cooking. I’ll be sure to include lots of ideas and links for you to check out. Have a blessed weekend!
Lego Club? My children would think that was heaven! Sounds like a busy but great week. 🙂
HiMeghan 🙂 so glad you stopped by. Lego Club was a huge hit. I’m sure I’ll have more to share as the summer goes by.
