Our school year is now in full swing. It seems like only yesterday I was mom and teacher to little ones who were haltingly sounding out the words on a page and counting out their math lessons with tiny plastic bears. They have grown up quickly and are becoming independent learners! While I sometimes miss those days of preschool fun and games, I do enjoy the interaction I have with my not-so-young people these days. With everyone working more independently these days my biggest challenge is keeping track of lessons, assignments, projects and the like. My favorite supplies for our schooling this year have to be 3-ring binders – they keep me organized and keep everything at our fingertips. I have one for lesson plans and school records, one for household schedules and records. Each of the children have one for their school lessons and assignments. (Check out our giveaway – my daily checklists are in this week’s printables giveaway!) We have several that hold unit studies and other projects we’ve printed out. Love my binders! The great things is that at the end of the year, I can take the papers from this year, file them away and we will be ready in minutes for a new year.

Linda, I am a fan of binders too! They are so simple and keep everything in one place. As soon as the school supplies come out in July, I take Bekah shopping with me to choose her binder for the new year, one that “fits” her artsy self for the year. I am a little more boring. I always have a one-inch black binder for my homeschool plans/records. I have a whole collection of them as I have kept each and every one since I began homeschooling 23 years ago!
Thank you for participating in the discussion about blogging! It was helpful to have input from other bloggers as I sorted out my own thoughts!
Actually, I appreciate any time that you comment on my blog. Your words are always kind and encouraging…and knowing that your connection can be wonky makes me appreciate your effort all the more!
What a wonderful collection you must have, Cheryl. My homeschool binder for plans and records is a one-inch basic blue, perfect for my needs. But, when I was a school girl, I knew that having a fancy-schmancy, beautiful binder meant it was going to be the best school year ever! I’m glad Bekah picked one out for herself 😉
I’ll be hopping over to see if blogger allows me to comment later today – have a blessed day today!
