Here it is again, the end of the month, the fifth week of my normally four week grocery cycle, and I find myself scouring the pantry and cupboards and freezer for 7 days’ worth of gourmet nearly nutritious meals to fill the 7 bellies that pull up to my table each day. You can read below what I came up with. I’ve included notes for your entertainment information.
MONDAY
b’fast – Get Your Own, It’s Mom’s Birthday!
lunch – pbj (we have plenty of my homemade whole wheat bread ready, a few jars of jelly and preserves on the canning shelves, and peanut butter. yay!)
supper – Grilling Out oops, stormy day. Grilling In (using the oven rather than the grill) Our plans for the day have changed due to weather. No problem, we’ll pop things back in freezer for a better day. We’re flexible like that 😉
TUESDAY
b’fast – baked oatmeal (plenty of oats in cupboard, a couple of eggs – no problem. Easy, cheap and filling since we’ll be having a late lunch with friends)
lunch – picnic lunch with friends (each family brings their own sandwiches. I’m providing carrot sticks and chips, my friend providing dessert. Makes it easy to feed a crowd)
supper – ham & beans (crock pot meal-nice since we’ll be gone all day. Beans in pantry and hambone in freezer – first thing that morning I dump them in crock and cover with water and some chicken broth. Easy Schmeasy)
WEDNESDAY
b’fast – breakfast burritos (usually do this on Mondays, but, well, we didn’t. Have eggs and tortillas left, so this works)
lunch – Leftovers (clean out the frig, mama’s going shopping this week!)
supper – Pasta with meat sauce (found some tri-color rotini in pantry, plenty of venison & beef burger in freezer, a couple cans of tomato sauce I can season up)
THURSDAY
b’fast – muffins (probably pumpkin and cinnamon struessel) and fruit (may have to be canned, we’ll see if the fresh supply holds out this long)
lunch – sloppy joes (burger cooked up on Wednesday makes this really quick and easy. buns in freezer)
supper – KOTO (Kids On Their own, Date Night) 😀
FRIDAY
b’fast – cereal (maybe), granola (if I get a new batch made), yogurt (definitely going to have this made beforehand)
lunch – sandwiches (mama and Noah will be off on our Big Shopping Day Date. My helper always gets to choose where we eat lunch, my treat. Please, please, please don’t choose that well-known hamburger establishment!!!)
supper – pizza night (IF Luke is home, and IF I’m not too beat and IF I feel like making the dough and sauce and cutting up stuff and get enough helpers in the kitchen after shopping all day long)
Saturday
b’fast – waffles (we may be gone for the day, or I may be cooking all day, so filling them up at the start helps the day go more smoothly)
lunch – quesadillas (either in the oven or the microwave. They can get their own if I’m not available)
supper – Mexican Lasagne (a freezer meal from last month)
Sunday
b’fast – bagels and fruit (quick and easy and self-serve as we head out the door)
dinner – Smothered Venison with rice (crockpot meal, meat in freezer, cooked rice from my cooking day last month)
supper – popcorn, apples, leftovers, every man for himself

Wow – I am so impressed that this is your meal plan when you are scrapping something together! Looks great to me! I’m also impressed you can do monthly shopping. I used to do every other week, but somehow got stuck back in the rut of every week. Maybe with summer busy-ness coming I should try to get back to at least every other week. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you for your sweet words, Beth. I’m glad you stopped by!
Having a plan is the greatest tool! Whether it’s weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Just having a plan keeps me accountable plain and simple. I hope you give it a try again this summer, it will be worth it.
