There is nothing I like better than a good hot cup of coffee on beautiful, cool morning, but a creamy and delicious glass of iced coffee on a hot summer afternoon comes in at a close second. Enjoying a tall glass of this refreshing drink brings back special memories of sweet friends. I first learned of iced coffee and how to make it back in my college days when I visited the home of a college buddy. It was a hot trip and after a carload of college girls unloaded, her mother showed us great hospitality, making us feel welcome and joining in our fun fellowship. This recipe is so easy, takes only minutes, and the ingredients can always be kept handy for unexpected guests.
To make iced coffee you will need:
- Ice Cubes (or frozen coffee cubes)
- Coffee (already brewed or instant coffee mixed with hot water)
- Milk (or cream, flavored creamer or half ‘n half )
- Sweetener of choice or flavored syrup (optional)
1. Fill glass with frozen coffee cubes or ice cubes.
2. Pour coffee into glass, filling approximately half way.
3. Finish filling glass with milk or creamer.
4. Stir well and serve up with your favorite cookies!
Notes: For sweet iced coffee, add sweetener of choice or flavored syrup to coffee and stir well before pouring over ice cubes.
Pour the last of your morning coffee pot into ice cube trays and freeze, using these frozen coffee cubes instead of regular ice cubes. This keeps your iced coffee from getting watered down as the ice melts.
How do you like your coffee? Hot or cold? Black or sweet?

Like you, I love coffee hot or cold!! If it’s hot, I take only about 3 drops of cream (I am exaggerating, but not much!) and no sugar. If it’s iced, then I want cream and sugar…or at least some chocolate syrup! Coffee is one of life’s simple pleasures, don’t you think? π

We are alike, Cheryl – for me it’s a little cream in my hot coffee but no sugar, and plenty of cream with some flavored syrup in my iced coffee π although while I love some chocolate WITH my coffee, I’m not a fan of chocolate IN my coffee.

What a great idea for leftover morning coffee!!! Less waste and great taste.
And I didn’t know you went to college. You’ll have to tell me where and for what sometime. I never went.

my family teases me about my coffee cubes, but it sure is nice for my iced coffee, and lattes too!
as far as colleges goes, I did attend but didn’t graduate – but I did come away with in relationship with the Lord and a mighty fine husband π

Thank you for sharing your life with us in the world wide web. I have the same love of coffee. I found you from another blogger (Judy Hoch). I’m in my first year of homeschool with my 4 littles (oldest being 5) and I find that coffee is a must. I use frozen coffee cubes in my java cup as well- I have started using one or two teaspoons full of sweetened condensed milk in mine. Since I am the only member in the house to drink coffee it saves us money on creamer. Also I tend to like my coffee sweeter and I don’t have to add more than one or two teaspoons of sugar when I use the condensed milk. Great post!

Hello and welcome! So glad you stopped by and shared today π I will add coffee tips and tricks to my collection.
How exciting to be at the beginning of your homeschooling journey. I pray you have a wonderful year – I remember well our first year, I was a mom with 3 almost 4 littles who are now grown and raising families of their own.
I always enjoy my visits over at Judy’s blog and I hope you’ll enjoy your visits here as well. Blessings!

I love coffee! And it’s not even because of the caffeine. I do half-caff hot coffee in the morning. Then I love my decaf iced coffee in the afternoon, especially during the warmer months. I’ve learned how to cold brew by soaking a regular sized bag of decaf coffee in four quarts of water for 12 hours, then straining out the grounds. This removes the bitterness that comes from pouring hot/warm coffee over ice cubes. Very smooth!

Always happy to meet another coffee-lover! I’ve been wanting to try cold brew myself – I’ll definitely be trying it soon. Interesting about the bitterness when poured over ice. I’ll be making some notes as I compare. I hope you are enjoying your summer days, AND your afternoon brew π
