Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.
We are currently working through the Bible chronologically with our church on Sunday mornings. To help prepare for our study I have been using Bible Breakdowns from Teach Sunday School.
It has been enjoyable to spend time reading through books and sections of scripture we are not as familiar with, but also challenging. Having study helps to give some background and foundational information make the lessons more meaningful.
As a member of the Homeschool Review Crew I received a digital PDF file for both the Old Testament pack and a New Testament pack. For each book of the Bible, there is a one-page guide that gives pertinent information for that particular book (except for Matthew, so much information it required 2 page.)
At the top of the page you see the name of the book, a number showing what order it is in the Bible and ‘OT’ or ‘NT’ to show it is in the Old or New Testament. Following the title is a short summary of the book and then five icons with notations that tell you:
- Number of chapters
- Type of book (history, prophecy, poetry, etc.)
- Date written
- Period covered (i.e. 658-615 B.C.)
- Author
The next section is called Breakdowns. Here you have chapters and verses listed with a note about significant details for that section of scripture. Those that contain classic Bible stories are highlighted in blue.
The last section lists the Most Popular Verses. This gives you book/chapter/verse references that are great for memory verses or a quick overview and review.
The pages of the book-by-book Bible Breakdowns printables are colorful yet easy on the eye. The information is organized in a clear and user-friendly fashion for all ages. You can view the pdf files from the device you’ve saved them to or print them out. The people at Teach Sunday School give permission for anyone in your household to use these – that’s great for a homeschooling family!
In our home, each week we are reviewing the sheet that corresponds with what we studied on the previous Sunday morning, and skim through the page that goes with the lesson for the upcoming Sunday. Right now, I am printing the pages 2-per-page, as we need them. I am happy with this half-sheet size, but I think I would prefer having them all printed and bound in a notebook. I hope to take it to a nearby office center and have it printed in color (we only have a black & white printer at home) and fastened with a spiral-type binding – one booklet for each of us so every person will have their own study aids.
Teach Sunday School has many printable Bible study resources. Besides the Bible Breakdowns, we have used several in our home including Books of the Bible At-a-Glance Review and Easter Escape Room. I love the simple and straight forward approach they use the share Bible truths. You’ll also find fun things like coloring pages, crosswords verse-a-day and more. Perfect for the homeschooling mom, homeschool co-op leader, Sunday school teacher, I definitely recommend this company!
